The Mormoraia dream
Mormoraia was once a convent enclosed by vineyards and olive trees, where nothing but the murmur of prayer throbbed in the air. In 1980 its destiny changed: entrepreneur Pino Passoni and his wife Franca bought the convent with the intention of making their dream come true. The dream of bringing back a new splendor to Mormoraia, converting it into an agricultural company that produced wines appreciated all over the world. The dream of a passion handed down from father to son.
In 1990, a year after the birth of their son Alessandro, Pino and Franca inaugurated the restructuring works for the Mormoraia estate and vineyards.
In 1995 the first winery and the agricultural company saw the light of day, and they still preserve the identity of their origins: arches and loggias, living stone walls, exposed beams on the ceilings, terracotta flooring. Meanwhile, Mormoraia wines made their debut in the international market: it turns out that love for the generous Tuscan nature is seductive in all five continents.

The success of the Mormoraia brand feeds the flames of renewal of the property. The hectares of vineyards and olive groves around the estate were extended and modern techniques were adopted for the different phases of wine making, such as aging in French sessile oak barrels.
In 2012, Alessandro Passoni, then only 23 years old, took charge of Mormoraia and, with the support of his parents, increased and improved its hospitality and production offers.

Alessandro converted the apartments into refined rooms of different types, had a sauna and Turkish bath built, shifted agricultural production to organic farming. In 2014 the restaurant opened its doors, a venue with the purpose of presenting typical Tuscan flavors to guests from all over the world.
Today Mormoraia is an exclusive hospitality structure and a renowned agricultural company, but its original passion is more than just a memory: every day the Passoni family, together with the precious Mormoraia staff, works with dedication to offer guests an unforgettable experience.
